Art + Technology Society
Mayra Ortega-Maldonado is a Mexican sustainability consultant with background on environmental engineering (MSc) and business (MBA). She currently lives in Eindhoven.
In the last 15 years, she has worked as a consultant for companies like Philips, Desso and other organizations, where she has contributed on the development on sustainability-oriented projects. This experience has made her realized that empowerment of people and community can radically change people’s life.
In 2009, by following her passion for nature, she introduced the concept of Biomimicry in the Netherlands. And in 2016, by developing her MBA project for the Van Abbemuseum, she got to know the potentiality of the combination art, technology and entrepreneurship as societal change agents. This was the motto to initiate and now manage Art + Technology Society, a new non-profit organization in Eindhoven committed to create a better future by providing activities where reflection, awareness and empowerment of people and organizations takes place.
Art can help to envision and build something better
We need to start thinking and acting differently if we, as society, want to create a better future. Here, art (and artistic abilities) can help to envision and build something better. During this workshop you will learn by doing. Firstly, you will get to know why art is a key enabler to create a better future. After knowing this, you will be encouraged to start developing new artistic abilities. And secondly, you will form multicultural and -disciplinary teams and be challenged to solve a global problem (social inclusion) by using technology in a creative way.
