Invention Designer, Artist Crafting Artifacts
Imagination of Things
Monique Grimord is an American invention designer and artist crafting artifacts, content, and experiences for brands and cultural initiatives. She has collaborated with Crispin, Porter + Bogusky (USA), Estudio Guto Requena (Brazil), and Mobgen/Accenture (Netherlands).
Imagination of Things is a design fiction studio based in Amsterdam. They use narrative design and creative technology to unfold more imagination in our lives. They have helped an insurance company imagine its future, intervened in the official EU parliament tour offering a playful & critical new perspective, made people connect through dance in public spaces, and set off an empathy bomb in a city square.
The studio is directed by Vitor Freire and Monique Grimord with a network of passionate collaborators in The Netherlands, Brazil, and USA.
In this session, we will introduce Fabricating Alternatives and let you experience a taste of this co-creation methodology, whose key outputs are: inventions, or tangible prototypes that exist in this alternative/fictional reality; interventions where these inventions are placed in a specific part of our reality (ie. a public space or an institution).
