MAD emergent art center
Educated at the Eindhoven Design Academy when it was strongly related to Philips – in the eighties – graphic, communication and experience design became his passion and profession. After a few years as designer in publishing and marketing communication industries, in 1990 independent design studio Grafico de Poost was established by Paré. Riding on the digital revolution multimedia became the new emerging sector where Paré developed a strong sense of pioneering in combinations of different disciplines.
In 1995 MAD emergent art center was founded by Paré c.s. to bring together media artists and tech engineers working in and around Philips. MAD emergent art center developed as an art-science lab, breeding new formats to democratize technology and bridge sectors in society, education and economy. Exhibitions, workshops, festivals and hackthons are now the instruments MAD emergent art center uses to invoke social and cultural innovation. Main festival today is Eindhoven Maker Faire that is expecting 15,000 visitors in 2019, and establishes a fertile ground for early innovators, creative talent and open technology sharing.
Micro hackathon domain swap
MAD emergent art center is hosting a micro hackathon domain swap session. The goal is to develop quick creative, but disruptive solutions and concepts in teams of 3 people from different domains – and in doing so experience and learn the power of this format.
Creativity is invoked by altering perspectives, turning things around and alienating the known. This is exactly the purpose of this micro hackathon – to come up with innovative solutions through an unexpected and unknown process. At the end of the hackathon the teams demonstrate their solution to a camera that is live streaming on social media. The number of likes is counted as the public vote, and all teams are rewarded with a surprise.
